Teeth Whitening and Cosmetic DentistryOnly A Dentist Can Get Your Teeth
Their Whitest!

We are excited by the healthier and more attractive smiles we create for our patients. Today, many relatively simple options exist to improve your smile, too!

Your smile communicates a lot about how you feel about yourself. Even a minor flaw in your smile can keep you from feeling your best about the way you look. In the past, we had few options to improve teeth that were chipped, stained or crooked. However now a wide range of cosmetic techniques can benefit almost any smile. Some conditions that may be helped by cosmetic dentistry are:

  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Diastemas (spaces between the teeth)
  • Unsightly, stained or washed-out fillings
  • Cracked or leaking fillings
  • Permanently stained or discolored teeth
  • Crooked or poorly shaped teeth

The Tooth Whitening Solution
Due to a variety of causes, teeth tend to stain and "yellow" over time. We can help you whiten and brighten graying and yellowed teeth. Dr. Mathew will examine your mouth and recommend the best treatment for your specific needs, either an in-office treatment or a take-home treatment, which we monitor to make sure that you obtain the best results.

What is Tooth Whitening?
It's actually a bleaching process that lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin. The system uses a mild solution retained in a custom-fitted tray that is worn over your teeth.

What Causes Tooth Discoloration?
There are many causes. The most common include aging, consumption of staining substances (coffee, tea, colas, tobacco), trauma, staining, nerve degeneration and old restorations. During tooth formation, consumption of tetracycline or excessive fluoride may also cause tooth discoloration.

How Long Does It Take?
Results are usually seen after the first night. Maximum results generally occur when the process is continued for 10 to 14 nights.

Are There Any Side Effects?
Some people experience temporary increased tooth sensitivity to cold during the treatment. These symptoms always disappear within one to three days after interruption or completion of treatment. Patients using Nite White Excel are less likely to get tooth sensitivity.

How Long Do The Results Last?
The teeth will always be lighter than they were. However, some patients may need periodic re-whitening for one to two days every one or two years, especially if they continue to use staining substances like caffeine or tobacco products.
